Statement from Melissa Memorial Hospital

Melissa Memorial Hospital in conjunction with the State, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) and the Northeast Colorado Health Department (NCHD) are working together with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other public health agencies across the state to protect the health and safety of our community and the surrounding areas.  Public health officials advise everyone to stay informed, take simple disease prevention measures and prepare.

Practice good hygiene. Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water.  In the absence of soap and water, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Cover cough and sneezes with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Stay home if you’re sick. Keep your children home if they are sick. Symptoms of COVID-19, include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Illness can be severe and require hospitalization, but most individuals recover by resting, drinking plenty of liquids and taking pain and fever-reducing medications.

Before coming to the ER or clinic with respiratory signs/symptoms PLEASE CALL the Family Practice of Holyoke at 970-854-2500 or MMH Admissions 970-854-2241. If you have traveled outside the country, gone to California, Washington, New York, or Florida, or have recently been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, call and speak to a nurse to discuss the next steps. You will be given a care plan with specific instructions for testing to minimize exposure and the potential spread of illness to others.
