Melissa Memorial Hospital Physical Therapy department has a highly trained staff  available to work with patients through Acute Rehab (swing bed), Outpatient, and Inpatient services.

Physical therapy (PT) provides services that develop, maintain and restore people’s maximum movement and functional ability. Our physical therapists treat a variety of different diagnoses including:

  • Post-operative rehab

  • Sports injuries

  • Joint pain

  • Shoulder disorders

  • Hip disorders

  • Knee disorders

  • Foot and ankle disorders

  • Neck and back disorders

  • Total joint rehab

  • Balance and vestibular disorders including vertigo

  • Generalized weakness

Occupational therapy (OT) helps people across the lifespan to do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities (occupations). Occupational therapists are unique in their holistic approach using science-based interventions to create a safe environment where a person can be as independent as possible. Common treatments include:

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) therapy focused on: dressing, bathing, household chores, etc.

  • Home safety evaluations

  • Adaptive equipment training for use with ADLs

  • Fine motor rehab for writing, grasping objects, fingertip sensation

  • Hand and wrist therapy, including Carpal Tunnel

  • Stroke rehab

  • Pediatric developmental and sensory disorders
